BCCCon: Empowering Basic Course Coordinators
The Basic Communication Course Conference (BCCCon), previously known as the Basic Course Directors Conference, has been a cornerstone of Communication Studies since its founding in 1962. This annual event gathers graduate students, faculty, and administrators from across the country to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in introductory communication courses at colleges and universities. About the 2025 Conference
When & Where Is It?
The Department of Writing & Rhetoric at The University of Mississippi is hosting this year's conference in Memphis on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 in collaboration with the University of Memphis and Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Who Should Attend?
This conference is designed for basic course coordinators, department chairs, and other faculty members involved in teaching public speaking courses at the university level.
What to Expect?
Expect engaging workshops, inspiring speakers, and ample opportunities to connect with peers and share best practices. We'll explore the latest trends and challenges in teaching public speaking.
Registration
Your registration fee of $150 covers all of the following:
Conference
The space, technology, and conference materials are included.
Meals
Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.
Transportation
Buses will charter the group from the hotel to the conference locations.
Optional Add-On:
After the conference talks on Sunday, interested attendees will be transported to the National Civil Rights Museum to visit the exhibitions and participate in a facilitated discussion. This option is available for an additional $30 fee.
